Newtown beat Miramar by 26 points to 21 after an interesting exhibition of Rugby League at Newtown Park. With a lead of 18 points to .8 Miramar had Newtown well extended in the first spell. The forwards on the Miramar side played hard, bustling football, Stanaway being the mainstay in most of the attacking movements. Gollop had his kicking boots on, and he was also prominent in several passing movements. A complete recovery was made by Newtown in the second spell, Sara being responsible for the reversal of form.
