On her first visit to the Dominion the New Zealand Shipping Company's motor-ship Kaituna arrived at Wellington this morning from Philadelphia, New York and Newport News, via Auckland. The Kaituna was built at Gothenburg. Sweden, last year by Eriksberg Mek. Verstads Aktiebolag and delivered to her owners in December. Her principal dimensions are length overall, 432 feet 3 inches; breadth, moulded, 56 feet 6 inches; depth to main deck. 28 feet 9 inches. She is one of 4907 tons gross and has a carrying capacity of 9165 tons deadweight on a draft of 25 feet 9£ inches, and a speed of 14£ knots. There are four cargo holds served by five hatches and 12 five-ton derricks and deep tanks for about 1000 tons of oil. Built to modern designs, the Kaituna made an impressive picture as she came up the harbour this morning.
