TROUBLE ON TRAIM
The conduct of Alexander Leo Fuller, aged 21, a motor-driver, on the 10.30 p.m. train from Wellington to Upper Hutt on Friday, and then on the way to the Upper Hutt Police Station, led to his conviction on five charges by Messrs. A. J. McCurdy and W. Greig, J.P.s, in the Upper Hutt Court on Saturday.
Constable F. J. Williams said that Fuller had no train ticket, refused to pay his fare, and used indecent language to the guard. The police were called to meet the train at Upper Hutt. Fuller refused to give his name, and on the way to the police station by car he attempted to escape. He jumped out of the car, pulling Constable Williams with him, and though he resisted violently the constable managed to handcuff him and get him to the police station.
Fuller pleaded guilty to the five charges. For assaulting the police and resisting the police he was convicted and discharged. He was convicted of committing mischief and ordered to make good damage amounting to 23s to the constable's uniform, and was convicted of failing to pay his rail fare amounting to 2s 7d, and was ordered to pay it. For using indecent language in a railway carriage he was .sentenced to two. months' imprisonment.
