TRUE TO FORM

AUGUST MARKETS

LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE

(Received August 12, 12.10 p.m.)

LONDON, August 11

The August Stock Exchange markets are running ■ true to form with business reduced to a minimum under the combined influence of holidays and international uncertainties, but though prices are tending to drift, there is no sign of real weakness.

The wool textile trade is enjoying remarkable activity, and the percentage of unemployed has dropped to 6 per cent., compared with 22 in June last year. The estimated consumption of imported wool for the first half of the year increased by 41 per cent, compared with 1938.
