GOOD REPORTS

MR. SAVAGE'S HEALTH

RAPID PROGRESS INDICATED

Most satisfactory reports regarding the health of the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) continue to be received. Mr. Savage has been visited by personal friends, who have been delighted at the indications of rapid recovery from the effects of the operation, and his abounding cheerfulness.

While it will take time to build tip his strength it does not seem to be beyond the bounds of probability that the Prime Minister will be again seen in his place in the House before the end of the session, although his colleagues will endeavour to relieve him of duties which will make calls on his physical resources.

They expect that Mr. Savage will assume certain duties of the . Prime Minister, but that his colleague, the Hon. P. Fraser, will carry the responsibility as Leader of the House until the session's business is completed.

FRUIT GROWERS' SYMPATHY

The annual conference of the New Zealand Fruit Growers' Federation today passed a resolution expressing regret at the illness of the Prime Minister and the Hon. P. C. Webb, and the hope that they may have a speedy recovery.

When he was addressing the conference later the Hon. W. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture and Acting Minister of Marketing, said he. thought they would all be pleased to know that the reports regarding the Prime Minister were very encouraging. (Applause.) All those who were associated with him were delighted with the progress he was making.
