CHATHAM CUP
NORTH ISLAND FINAL
Wellington Watersldera became tho North Island representatives for tho Chatham Cup final by defeating Ponsonby In an Association football match at Blandford Park, Auckland, on Saturday. The final score was 3 goals to I but iv the play thera was a superiority oven more marked than shown by tDat score.
Strong attacking play by the Watersidors' ranguard was supported by excellent work on the part of the halves and full-backs, and .to meet the final drives by Ponsonby there was a particularly strong "goalie" to "beat in Ward. Watersiders played with excellent understanding, and the well-balanced combination was able to execute many bright movements. Ponsonby faced up to the difficult proposition very well, but were particularly unfortunate in losing one of their halves, deal, early in the game. However, it was evident right from the outset that Wellington had the more skilful side. Jordan and Bolton were on their uame at full-back, and Calder, Haze!, and Trainer were a strong trio of halves in support of a snappy front line in'which Janes nnd K. Ward were .very conspicuous. Blaekjc, Hackett, and Wyllie did best for Ponsonby.
Walker scored two goals and McCarthy one for Wellington, and JlcCallum scored Ponsonby's goal.
