FAULT OVERCOME

QUIST'S TENNIS SERVICE

(Received August 4, 10.25 a.m.)

PHILADELPHIA, August 3,

The Australian Davis Cup representatives A. K. Quist and J. H. Crawford played a practice match in Philadelphia, where observers who saw Quist in the challenge round in 1938 commented on his .new service style and his freedom from foot-faults.

"I have been practising keeping my foot solidly on the ground in order to conform with the American interpretation of the service rule," said Quist. "I now believe I can serve without violation of the foot-fault rule."
