NEW HALL
ROSENEATH PARISH
OPENING TOMORROW
The consummation of three years of patient and untiring effort and of sacrifice by the Anglican parishioners of Roseneath and friends of the parish will be marked tomorrow afternoon by the opening of a parish hall as an adjunct to St. Barnabas' Church. The hall has been built between the Eoseneath School and the church, and will fill a long-felt need in the district and v/ill be the means of adding to the scope of the parish activities.
A start was made three years ago ■iHo raise -the money^necessary ,to,build -the hall, the amount aimed at being ' £1500. The vicar, the Rev. E. M. McLevie, was steadfast in his belief that the building project should not be proceeded with unless the parish had the money to pay for it. A smaller hall could have been built much earlier, but the policy of waiting until there was sufficient money in hand to enable the work to be undertaken in the knowledge that the hall would not be opened with the parish in debt over it was adhered to. The parishioners have done excellent work. They have collected about £1240, and the balance of the £1500 has all been promised. In addition, the parish has received gifts of furnishings for the hall amounting to £200. The building is 50ft by 30ft. . The official opening at 2.45 p.m. tomorrow is to be performed by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Sprott, emeritus Bishop of Wellington. Other speakers will include the Vicar-General of the diocese, the Yen. Archdeacon W. Bullock, the Hon. P. Fraser, and the Rev. E. M. McLevie. In the evening there is to be a dance in the.haill.
