ROAD CYCLING
Tomorrow the Poneke Amateur Cycling Club will hold itß annual open race over a dls* tance of 26 mile 3, the course being from Kalwarra up Onslow Road through Khandtllah to JohnsonvUle, and thence to Makara, over the Makara Hill to Karori, and back to the starting point at Kaiwarra. The race is a time-trial event, each competitor riding individually against the watch. The course, although not of great length, it a particularly arduous one, in that there are some very stiff hills to be mastered. Riders, in order to complete the course, must be in the "pink" of condition. The {starting order of the eampetftors is as follows: —L. Jonason, C. Huxford, W. Keighley, N. McLeod, C; Sparks, A. Huxford, C. .Telly. W. Lasky, G. Howard, F. Alexander, N. Serlmgeour, K. Dutton, lies. Sowerby, C. Clark. Post, entries will be accepted at the start- 1 ing point. The race {starts at 2.30 p.m. A junior time trial over a distance of ten miles will also be held. The starting order Is! as follows: —D. Ogden, F. Anderson, E. Yuille, T. Walsh, J. Sparkes, W. Guey, N. Blair. Post entries also will be accepted for this event. There will be sealed handicaps in conjunction with both events. The winner of the senior spaled handicap will hold the Abel Cup, and the rider making the fastest time will hold the Mat son Cup. Past winners of the Abel Cup are:—l93B, C. Clark; 1937, N.
