HIGH-CLASS PACER
KING'S WARRIOR IN SOUTH
Although the North Island pacer King's Warrior is set to give away 48yds in the August Handicap at Addington tomorrow he is such a brilliant DGrformer that even this concession to other proved pacers may not be too much for his capabilities. During the past season he was not raced on many occasions, due principally to the fact that horses handicapped on a tight mark have restricted opportunities in the north. Christchurch light-harness enthusiasts have a wholesome regard for the ability of King's Warrior, who at the corresponding meeting last year showed real class against strong opposition. On the opening day he finished third to Lucky Jack and Glenrossie in the International Handicap, H miles, but a success soon came his way, the black pacer conceding upwards of 72yds in the National Challenge Stakes,-2 miles, run on the second day, and making an exhibition of the field. As a matter of fact, although the opposition included Lucky Jack, Ginger Jack, War Buoy, and several other starters, he was the only one to offer a serious challenge to the trotters, Wahnooka and Sea Gift. On the third day of the carnival he showed his versatility by accounting for the Farewell Handicap, run over & mile The son of Blue Mountain King is a truly fine performer under winter conditions, and should the going beat all on the soft side during the forthcoming meeting he should pick up a stake in the three days. He has done everything required of him on the track recently in a most impressive manner, and his northern supporters are sanguine of success on the southern trip.
