ANOTHER MISTAKE

SURVOY LOSES RIDER

(By Telecraph—Press Association.)

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

Conditions at Riccarton were1 milder this morning than previously, there being a very light frost. Plenty of horses were out, but most did only useful pace, work on the sand. A few horses went on No. 7 grass'track, but apart from a working gallop over a mile and a half by The Sandwich Man there was nothing of interest.

Recollection (A. Leach) went at a smart pace over five hurdles, but the display was not quite up to his best as he hit a. couple of obstacles.

Survoy (A. E. Ellis), Bridegroom (A. Jenkins), and Hanover (J. Chaplin) attracted a crowd when they went out for a school over a round of the Grand National fences. Starting off- from the nine-furlong post, they kept close company over the sod wall and post-and-' rails. Survoy dropped back a little at the Kennels double, the. other pair leading, him by' several lengths over the sod,"wall and brush at the top of the straight. Survoy later got into the carriage paddock brush, losing his rider. Bridegroom and Hanover completed an attractive school over Cutts's fence, where Hanover had a slight advantage. Survoy came on without a rider down the straight and was caught without trouble, being none the worse for the mishap. A. E. Ellis suffered a few bruises but will be all right to ride next week. Survoy's display, following his.fall at the Kennels double the previous day, • was disappointing. ,

R. W. Savage bruised a shoulder in a fall yesterday, but hopes to be all right to ride next week. :

Red Terror, Brilliant Boa, Night Pal, Valantua, Silver Streak, and Balmenter were arrivals fiom the south.
