The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today for the ensuing twenty-four hours, is for moderate to fresh south-westerly to southerly winds in the far north, with westerlies to south-westerlies in the far south. The anticyclone has remained stationary over the Dominion, the highest pressure being in the south, but conditions over the eastern part of Australia are very much disturbed. Winds yesterday were light and variable to the south of Greymouth and Christchurch, while elsewhere southerlies prevailed and were mainly light to moderate, although fresh to strong on the East Coast of the North Island. Except for some scattered light showers between East Cape and Poverty Bay, the weather has been fine and sunny, with temperatures milder thoa they have been for some days. Th«*e were further widespread and severe frosts last night, however, especially in the South Island, Christchurch and Alexandra having 15 and 13 degrees respectively. The weather again today is for the most part bright and sunny with light and variable winds, but fresh south-westerlies are blowing in the far south and it is cloudy to overcast in that area.

Auckland's weather yesterday was bright and sunny, with a moderate south-westerly breeze which died away in the evening. Temperatures were cool, 53 degrees being the maximum and 41.8 degrees the minimum. The sky this morning had clouded over, and drizzling rain began to fall about 8.30 a.m.

Wellington had a beautifully fine day, 7.4 hours of bright sunshine being recorded. There was a light southerly breeze. The maximum and minimum temperatures were 46.9 and 34 degrees respectively, while last night's grass minimum temperature at Kelburn fell to 27.8 degrees, giving 4.2 degrees of frost. It was beautifully fine again this morning with practically no wind.

In Christchurch also it was fine and sunny yesterday, the wind there being a very light southerly breeze. The maximum temperature was 48.8 degrees and the minimum 27.9, with a frost last night of 15 degrees. This morning's weather was fine and clear.

Dunedin's weather yesterday was fine with occasional passing cloud, and with but little wind. Today, however, a fresh south-westerly was blowing, and the weather had become cloudy to overcast.
