FLAIR FOR DECORATION
An interesting personality behind the scenes of the recent Canadian Royal visit was Mrs. George Pape, lady-in-waiting to Lady Tweedsmuir, wife of Canada's Governor-General, states the London "Daily Telegraph." During days and nights in the Royal train the Queen formed a kind admiration for Mrs. Pape's flair for decoration. Mrs. Pape. who is Lady Somerby's widowed sister, chose the fabrics for the upholstery and curtains of the King's and Queen's coaches. It was only two years ago that Mrs. Pape. after meeting Lady Tweedsmuir in England, travelled with her to Canada to take up quite unknown duties, but it would be hard today to imagine life without her at Government House. Ottawa. Charming and entertaining, she is extremely popular with Canadians. Her innumerable duties include looking after the flowers at Government House, attendirfg to details of the daily luncheon and dinner parties, dealing, with a secretary's help, with much of Lady Tweedsmuir's correspondence and attending her at official functions.
