FAILURE TO STOP
DEFENDANT PLEADS GUILTY
Matthew Kennedy, a labourer, 34 years of age, employed at the Hutt Railway Workshops, was charged before Messrs. F. Feist and A. J. Gearing, J.P.S, at the Lower Hutt Court today with failing to stop after a collision between his motor-truck and a motorcar. He pleaded guibfty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Evidence was given by G. W. Cade, ! the driver of the motor-car, and his two passengers, Messrs. G. J. Taylor and S. Catchpole, of an accident that happened on May 29 at 5.20 p.m. on a small bridge on the main road at Silverstream, whereby their car had its right mudguard and running board damaged by a truck travelling in the opposite direction. Constable C. E. Tanner gave evidence that the defendant had admitted to him on June 2.5 that his truck had collided With another vehicle on May 20. Mr. T. P. McCarthy, who appeared for the defendant, called the defendant J and his wife, who stated that their j vehicle,, would have been stopped if they considered the accident was serious or if anyone had been hurt.
