A NEW PARTY

POLITICAL FIELD

MOVE IN HAWKE'S BAY

AIMS AND OBJECTS

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

HASTINGS, July 20.

A new political party, with the stated objective of giving expression to the views of small farmers and other sections of the community, is being formed in Hawke's Bay.

The chief organiser,. Mr. J3..H. Dalley, interviewed today, stated that he was convinced that there was need for another political organisation to voice the collective opinions of the people in the right quarter. "This party will have no connection with the Labour Party," said Mr. Dalley. "It will have its own policy and objectives, with no dictatorial methods which two or three men will control.

"Members claim that the organisation will not embarrass the Government in any way—that is-riot our intention. We wish to keep in touch with the needs of the people as they arise. Providing the Labour Government functions satisfactorily, we will have no fault tc,? find."

It was stated that the organisation would not put candidates into the field at the next election unless Labour members failed to carry out the objectives it had in mind. However, it was intended to contest local body elections It was emphasised that the new organisation had nothing in common with Communists.

Adherents of political bodies are denied membership in the new party. It is not known yet what the name of the new organisation will be, but suggestions are "Independent Labour Party," "Industrial Labour Party," or "Socialist Party."

. The movement appears to be confined to Hawke's Bay, but the suggestion is that other centres will be approached in the near future.
