ATTEMPT ON CYCLE RECORD

Advice has been received by Mr. C. V. Aldridge, secretary of the New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association, that O. Barnard, a member of the New Plymouth Amateur Cycling Club, intends making an attempt to lower the cycling record from Auckland to "Wellington and expects to arrive at the Chief Post Office, Wellington, between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday. The record, 36 hours 19mm, for the 462 miles, was established in December, 1934, by the Canterbury rider, Gordon Lukey, who achieved further distinction later by pushing a wheelbarrow between the two cities.

If Barnard will be arriving on Saturday, arrangements will be made for some local cyclists to form an escort into the city for him.
