PLANS FOR TAKANINI TEAM
The Takanini trainer F. J. Smith in- 1 tends taking a team of four to Addington for the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's Winter Meeting .next month, and those under orders for the trip are King's Warrior, Ironside, Nell Volo, and Swordsman. All have got through a lot of work of recent weeks and will lack nothing on the score of physical fitness. Swordsman and Nell Volo, who were given a run at the Auckland Meeting last month, are stated to be very well, the outing having benefited them considerably in their preparation. Both are proved performers in their classes, and a good deal of interest will centre in the displays of Nell Volo, for she has not raced for a couple of seasons. Timed from post to post at Epsom last month she registered a shade worse than 3min 30sec, which time, taking into consideration the heavy going, was a most satisfactory performance. She was carrying a lot of surplus condition at the time but has fined down a lot since. __. . King's Warrior and Ironside have previously proved successful on the southern "tracks, but owing to their having working themselves back to _a particularly tight mark their opportunities are restricted in the north. Bota have been hitting out well m meir track essays and should give good accounts of themselves next month.
