DOMINION CONTEST
A meeting of the Dominion Pipe Band Contest Committee was held last week, when the programme for the contest on January 26 and 27 was arranged. ■ The following events were decided on;— Drum majors' display: A grade: £15, £5, £3. B grade: £12 10s, £5, £2 10s. Quickstep: A grade,, £50, £20, £10, £5; B grade, £30 £15, £8, £5. Test selection: A grade, £40, £20, £10, £5; B grade, £30, £15, £10, £5. Aggregate: A grade, £10; B grade, £5. Drum majors' stave flourishing contest: £3,. £1 10s. Street march, £5, £2 10s (both gra%s). Special prizes will be allotted as follows:—A grade: Championship Chair lenge Shield for the highest aggregate points for selection and quickstep music and the total military points; Harry Lauder Shield, for highest aggregate points for music and drill in the quickstep; John Begg ChaUenge Cup, for highest points for music in: the selection; Hunter Drill Shield, for highest points in the quickstep and selection; Goulding ChaUenge Cup, for most points for dress at the inspection of bands in the quickstep; Timaru Highland Pipe Band Challenge Cup, for highest points in drum majors' display; George Lauchlan Memorial Cup, for highest points for music in. quickstep. B grade: Timaru Challenge Cup, for highest aggregate points in Test selection and quickstep music and total highest military points; Empire Challenge Cup, for highest points in drum majors' display; Manawatu Scottish Society's ChaUenge Shield, for highest points in Test selection; Alasdair Macdonald Challenge Cup, for highest points in quickstep. Gold medals are to be given to the drum majors of bands gaining most points in drum majors' display and: for drill in the quickstep, with a silver medal for the second highest in drUI in quickstep; gold medals for pipe majors of bands * gaining most points, in music in the quickstep and in the Test selection, with, silver medals for second position; gold medal for the best bass drummer in the selection (A or B grade); medals to the champion band. -■-.",-

The matter of accommodation was discussed and a sub-committee was set up to consider the matter and report. - .
