SCHOOL JUBILEE
(Special to the "Evening- Post.")
PALMERSTON N., This Day.
The golden jubilee celebrations of the Shannon school were conducted during the weekend. On Saturday the township presented an animated scene, the population being swelled by a large influx of visitors from all parts of the Dominion. A roll call was held at the school, followed by speeches of a congratulatory nature. Later past and present pupils marched to the South African War Memorial and Cenotaph where wreaths of remembrance were laid. In the evening there was a banquet attended by about 330 ex-pupils, as well as Mr. L. G. Lowry, M.P., and Mr. J. G. Barclay, M.P., the latter being an old resident of the Shannon district.
