I Mesdames Webb and Little and Miss Holmes were welcomed to the committee of the Wellington Red Cross Society by the chairman, Mr. C. H. C.hap■man, M.P., at a recent meeting. A letter from Mr. Lefeaux accepting the (position of vice-president, was received. ! The heartfelt condolence of 'the meet- ! ing was expressed to Mr. F. S. Pope lin the recent bereavement in his fam- ! ily. Arrangements were rhacie for the ! picture benefit'to furtner the society's activities in Wellington, the De Luxe proprietors having generously lent their theatre for the occasion. Arrangements were also discussed for-the society's exhibit at the Centennial Exhibition, when a creche would be maintained and an international Red Cross exhibit displayed. A number of applications from the blind had been received for various forms of assistance including clothing, medicines, radios, etc., the sum of £97 7s 2d being involved in meeting these. The delegate from the V.A.D.S reported on the division's activities during the month, these including knitting fifteen pairs of bed socks for invalided returned soldiers and weekly visits with gifts to the central and main hospitals. Members had also attended the Red Cross Home and Vicr toria Wards regularly. Training was Jin progress for the Collins Cup competition which will be held in New Plymouth in September, and instruction was being given in air-raid precautions and defence against chemical warfare! The women's social club had :be,en active and was working up a bazaar. Reports were also read from the ladies' auxiliary and Junior Red Cross.
