CLUB ACTIVITIES
The annual meeting of the Tararua Tramping Club was held last night. In the absence, of the retiring president (Mi\ A.N. Smith), who had been transferred to Falmerston North, the.acting president (Mr. J. W. Butcher) presided.
Moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, Mr. Butcher said the attendances during the weekend tramps during the yeaf had continued ito be small, but there had been a weljcome improvement in the attendance at the working parties and valuable work had' been done during the year. "I would like to say a word of commendation to those who went out to bring in the body of Mr. A. Fredric," said the chairman. "It is easier to go out when someone is lost and there is the hope ithat one may be the means of bringing him to safety, but it is quite a different matter to take on a job like this."
The motion was seconded and the report was adopted.-
Praising the work: done during the year by the ski committee and the social committee, the secretary (Mr. C. Stubley) - said that each of the ski instruction evenings held during the year had been attended by over 70 j members and the standard of skiing in the club had become very much higher as a- result. •
The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: — President, Mr. J. W. Butcher; vicepresidents, Messrs. A. N. Smith, W. H. ■Denton, A. H. Hines, H. W. Lattey, and G, B.
