LONDON, July 14

Offerings at the wool sales today were 8391 bales, including 2937 bales New Zealand, and 7340 bales were sold. A good selection met with a keen demand, and, apart from greasy crossbreds, which were occasionally sold in buyers' favour, the opening rates were well maintained. New Zealand scoured merino combing, "Braemar," made 22d to 23d a lb. The Bank of New Zealand, produce department, has received the following advice from its London office under date July 14:—Compared with the opening of the sales competition is well sustained but extreme prices for crossbreds are not maintained. Cur- j rent quotations for wools of average condition:—Merino, super 60 to 64's, 14§d to 15d per lb; ordinary, lljd to 12£ d; inferior, 9d to lOd. Halfbreds: 56/58's, 114 dto 12|d; 56's, lid to 12d; 50/56's, lOfd to 12d. Crossbreds: 50's, 103 dto 12d; 48/50's, lljd to 12£ d; 46/48's, lid to 12Jd; 44/46's, lid to 12-id; 40/44's, lid to 12id; 36/40's, lid to 12rld. The Bank of New South Wales is in receipt of the following cable message from its London office dated July 14:— London wool sales: Since the opening prices for greasy merinos have remained very firm; crossbred par to 5 per cent, cheaper.
