Mr. James Melling, Town Clerk of Auckland, has now practically recovered from his serious illness following an accident, and he hopes to be able to resume his duties next week. Captain W. H. P. Jackson, formerly master of the liner Tainui, which was recently withdrawn from service, is in command of the Shaw Savill and Albion liner Mataroa, which arrived at Auckland today from Southampton. Sawyers, district traffic manager of railways at Auckland, arrived today by the limited express.
