Fine weather favoured the Waimate! District Hunt Club's Steeplechase races and there was a good attendance. The course was in excellent order. Results: — Amateur Cup Steeplechase, £35; about 2£ miles.—3 Harkaway, 11.7, 1; 2 Valmy, 11.7, 2; 1 Macalpein, 12.4, 3. Scr.: Sporting Lass. Two lengths; head. Time, 4min 27 3-ssec. Studholme Hurdles, £60; 1 mile and 5 furlongs.—l Mount Val, 10.7, 1; 4* Red Terror, 9.0, 2; 3 Black Banner, 11.5, 3. Scr.: Metal Bird. Four/lengths; head. Time, 3min 7 2-ssec. Novice Stakes, £50; 6 furlongs.—4 Sunny Dawn, 8.4 (Wilson), 1; 2 Chief Lama, 8.4, 2; 3 Pilot's Love, 8.4, 3. Scr.: Sportsman. Two lengths; two lengths. Time, lmin 17 2-ssec.
