YORKSHIREMEN MEET

A feature of the last meeting of the Yorkshire Society was "A Cavalcade of Famous Yorkshire Folk Through the Centuries." This was -compiled by Mr. Karl Atkinson and spoken oy Messrs. B. Beeby, E. R. Render, and K. Atkinson. Commencing with Caedmon, the father of English poetry back in the seventh century, and coming down to Phil May, the celebrated black and white artist who died in 1903, the "Cavalcade" included a brilliant selection of interesting personalities who have had their origin in the county of broad acres.

The 2YA Old-Time Orchestra Party, Miss Ethel Gibson (violin), and Mr. J. J Hemingway (elocutionary items) contributed to the evening's entertainment.

Feeling reference was made by Mr Karl Atkinson to the late Sir Thomas Wilford, a past president of the society.
