QUINOPAL RETURNS
■Quinopal. who is now rising 14 years and has not raced since he won the Waimate' Hunt Cup Steeplechase last year, is an acceptor for the same race again tomorrow. Twelve months ago" he carried 10.8 and the horses who were in, the minor places were Gold Wren, 9.6, and Uncle Jim, 9.10, who each went on to success during the following month, A few weeks, ago Quinopalwas reported from the south to be schooling as well as ever.
Quinqpal opened his winning account as 'a '■ four-year-old at: Dunedin, when lie had Gay Crest in the field behind him. In fh"e following spring he won a hurdles double at Geraldine and a great career was predicted for him, but although he won twice again that season unsoundness came against him and he'did not appear in the following term. As a seven-year-old, he had his best season, winning six races, including the Otago Steeplechase and Wingatui Steeplechase. Then for three years, and until last season, he failed to win. He has scored 13 times to date and has raced under three ownerships. His owner and trainer now is P. J. Boyle.
