CONDITIONS IN BRITAIN

LONDON, July 12.

Lord Hankey, speaking in the Houst of Lords in a debate on nutrition,, said he was shocked and humiliated, as secretary of the Committee of Imperial Defence, at the fact that 50 and often 60 per cent, of recruits were rejected. The militia figures, on the other hand, were satisfactory, but the number of unfit men of all ages was still disturbing, due to malnutrition in most cases. The Government should accept the report on nutrition made* by the Leagu* of Nations in 1937. :
