DEATH TOLL UP TO 600
JULY 4 HOLIDAY IN U.S.A.
NEW YORK, July 5,
Despite a widespread campaign for a safe and sane Fourth of July holiday, the violent death-toll has reached approximately 600.
Highway accidents claimed the largest number —255. Fireworks, which are usually a prolific source of deaths during the Independence Day celebrations, resulted in only two fatalities, although many were injured by them. California led all the States with 64 deaths.
