BOY ESCAPEES
RECAPTURED AFTER CHASE
(By Telegraph—-Press Association)
DUNEDIN, July 5,
Two lads who escaped from the Caversham Boys' Home on Saturday afternoon were recaptured at Cromwell this afternoon.
The lads were members of a party which was taken to a football snatch at Carisbrook on Saturday afternoon. They eluded the attendant in the crowd. Apparently they procured bicycles and went to Milton, where, it is alleged, they converted a car belonging to a local stock agent on Monday evening. Today, acting on advice that the lads were believed to be in the Cromwell district, a local constable aryi a traffic inspector patrolled the roads <and met the missing car at the Kawsftcau Gorge. They met at a narrow portion of the road, and, before the inspector could turn the car, the latfs, who had recognised the officers, made off at high speed. They were overtaken in the township of Cromwell a*id arrested by the constable.
