CHRISTCHURCH, July 5,
Earl McCready tonight beat Paul Joiaes by one penalty fall. McCready was easily the better wrestler, but Jones relied on rough tactics to offset this. In the fifth round Jones had a scissors on McCready which was palpably a stranglehold, and a penalty fall was given against him. Several times Jones was elbow-jolted out of the ring.
