LONDON, June 12,

Five children will accompany the Duke and Duchess of Kent when they leave for Australia in ' October. In addition to their ; own, there - will, be the son and daughter of Lord and Lady Herbert, and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lowther.

Six nurses will be in charge- of the five children. Prince Edward will be just four years old, and the newest arrival, Mrs. Lowther's daughter, just four months, when .the Royal .party leave for Australia by the Strathaird.

The children;, will, have large, a|ry cabins in the quietest part of ttjg liner. The Duchess believes' in fresh air and quiet for her children, and Lady Herbert shares her ideas.

Lord Herbert is equerry.to the Duke, and Lady Herbert is lady-in-waitihg to the Duchess. Mr. Lowther is the Duke's private secretary. His Royal Highness was best man at the weddings of both Lord and Lady Herbert in 1936.. and Mr.'and Mrs. Lowther in 1937.

Lord Herbert is the eldest son of the Earl, and Countess of Pembroke, and Mr.. Lowther is the 'grandsori and heir of Lord' Uljswater,, formerly, Speaker in the House of Commons. Mr. Lowther was appointed secretary to. the Duke in 1935, and; he,has proved himself to be so indispensable, that he is now virtually Comptroller' of the Duke's household. . '
