MARRIED IN SYDNEY

RABBI KATZ OFFICIATES

Rabbi S. Kate, of Wellington, officiated at the wedding of Miss Valda Steigrad, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Steigrad, Rose Bay, Sydney, to his second son, Mr. David Katz. Mrs. Katz was also present at the Great Synagogue for the ceremony which took place last week. Rabbi Falk assisted the bridegroom's father. The synagogue had been beautifully decorated with white flowers, full-length baskets of lovely blooms being arranged on either side of the altar.

An unusual headdress of hand-made angel-skin chrysanthemums and a double-tiered veil of French tulle was worn by the bride, whose Empire gown of French marquisette over taffeta and chiffon was made with a heart-shaped neckline and short puffed sleeves. The shirred bodice and front of the neckline were outlined with appliqued acanthus leaves matching the long sprays of roses and leaves were appliqued on the trained skirt; which measured twenty yards round the hem. Her Empire bouquet was of pure white hyacinths. and lily of the valley.

Her sister, Miss Betty Steigrad, and Miss Norma Heward (Melbourne), who attended her, were in bouffant frocks of hyacinth-blue taffeta lifted at the hem-line to show frilled petticoats. Pink and blue velvet bows were worn in their hair, and their antique oameo pendants were gifts of the bridegroom. Their flowers were muffs of pink and blue hyacinths and pink carnations. The bridegroom's sister, Mrs. S. Moses, was to have been matron of'honour, but could not attend the wedding through illness. 't

Mr. S. Moses was best man, and Messrs. R. Simpson and A. Van Roojcri (Sydney) were groomsmen.

At the reception which was held at the Hotel Carlton, 110 guests were. received by Mrs. Steigrad, who wore a draped gown of vintage lame with a matching jacket, and carried mauve orchids. She was assisted by Mrs. Katz, whose French gown of grey crepe was worn with Cattley orchids.

The bride left the reception in an evening gown of pink broderie Anglais and wore her husband's wedding gift of a squirrel mink jacket.
