"SPENDTHRIFT POLICY"
Claiming that the. Government bad, by its spendthrift policy, kfter three years of record export production, brought about a major iCngis in the financial affairs of the Dominion., the Leader of the Opposition (die Hon. Adam Hamilton) moved a no-confidence amendment when speaking in the Address-in^Reply debate in the House of Representatives last.night. In reply, the Prime Minister [(the Rt. Hon, M. J. Savage) claimed that the country had been efficiently managed by Labour, and blamed previous Administrations for borrowing so heavily that loans amounting to approximately 1100,000,000 would have to be met during the next ten years, Mr. Savage also deprecated the action of those who had removed their capital from the country or who made derogatory statements about the finances of New Zealand.
