QUEEN CARNIVAL

FOR BAND INSTRUMENTS

The plan to hold a queen contest and carnival in Lower Hutt, on a district basis- of north, south, east, and west, to supply the Lower Hutt Municipal Band with a set of new instruments has resulted in the formation of the district committees and the election of the queen candidates. The carnival is to commence on September 2, in the grounds of the old Hutt Central School, and will run for two weeks. After a short lapse, it will be shifted to the Waterloo School grMMids/for. a period. The carnival wiff terminate with a week of bazaar and indoor novelties in the last week of October. Mr. F, N. Jones, of Nelson, the organiser for the major attractions, will arrive in Lower Hutti on August 1 to superintend the arrangements. The whole project will be on a very large scale, and no single organisation has yet attempted such a comprehensive scheme in Lower Hutt. The Recreation Ground was not available for any of the purposes of the: carnival, and the executive committee warmly appreciates the facilities .granted by the two schools concerned. .
