DISPERSAL SALE
TOP PRICE FOR BEAULIVRE
The feature of the dispersal sale of the late Mr. W. Higgins's horses at Trentham yesterday by Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, and Co., Ltd., was the spirited bidding for the high-class Beaulivre. The first offer for him was 1500 guineas, from which he finally reached 2900 guineas, and at this figure he was knocked down to the Hastings trainer S. J. Reid, who was acting for a new Wellington owner, Mr. E. Harnett.
Globe Trotter was another to elicit keen competition, and, after starting at 400 guineas, was purchased by Mr. G. A. Lang, Wellington. Safari, the sire of Globe Trotter, was secured by Mr. E. Grinimett, Otira, at 340 guineas. The English-bred horse Royal Star II was sold for 25 guineas, and the brood mares After Money and Sight Draft went at 350 and 125 guineas respectively..
Several other horses were put up for auction, but in a number of cases did not reach the reserve, among the latter lot being Cornaro, Rollieker, Whirling, Royal Bachelor, Captain Bunsby, Rulanut, Midian, The- Crooner, Aureus, Dorak, and Haile Selassie. The auctioneer conducting the sale was Mr. J. Broad, of Masterton. The following sales were made:— On account Estate Late W. Higgins. Beaulivre, br c. 2yrs, by Beau Pere— GUS' Passbook, E.
