BOWLING CENTRE

ANNUAL REPORT

HEALTHY PROGRESS

The thirty-third annual report for. the year ended May 31, to be presented at the general meeting of the Welling^ ton Bowling Centre on July 11, shows that the affilated clubs number 24, with a membership of 1940, an increase of 56 members during the past year. The centre's financial position if stated to be sound, there being a , credit balance of £151 5s 9d, com- . pared with £112 12s 6d in the previous . year. * . . ' Particularly fine weather was experi- ; enced during the past season, which < . was a most successful one. A little rain on Boxing Day necessitated a delay in commencing the Christmas Fours, otherwise good weather pre^ vailed. Whilst there was a pleasing number •of entries ■in the centre's various tournaments, regret .is ex- . pi-essed that some clubs did not take part in these competitions, and, their co-operation in future is. asked for.. It is pointed out -that with > the: -removal of the headquarters of the New . Zealand -Bowling. Associatidn to -Wei- , jlington, Mr. M". J.'Casey, the-retiring ! president of the centre, would assume ■ j office as president of the New Zealand Association, with an executive of Mr.* J. Kershaw as honorary treasurer and . Messrs. S. M. Stone and W. Gilbert as ! councillors.-

The hearty cc-operatiori of local bowlers is appealed tor in connection v,' v. with the association's Centennial tournament, commencing on January 8 lV next, which it is hoped will be a most. successful and memorable one. - -."
