SEATOUN CLUB

The annual meeting of the Seatoun Bowling and Tennis Club, Ltd., was held in the club's pavilion recently, the president, Mr. H. Oldfield, presiding over a good attendance of members.

Feeling reference'was made to the death of two old and esteemed members, Messrs. J. V. Lonsdale and R. Davis. <$

Officers were elected as follows:— President, Mr. H. Oldfield; vice-presi-dent, Mr. G. A. Hayden; hon. secretary, Mr. P. A. South; hon. treasurer, Mr. F. Dewhurst; directors, Messrs. W. Usher, H. B. Hornibrook, P. J. Wright, W. I. J. Blyth, F. Marshall, S. Shenhan; green superintendent, - Mr. E. J. Barnett; delegate to Wellington Bowling Centre, Mr. S. M. Stone; sole selector, Mr. P. J. Wright; hon. auditor, Mr. E. W. A. Kellow, F.P.A., N.Z.; hon. solicitor, Mr. M. R. Watterson.

The president spoke of the necessity of securing new members for the forthcoming season, and asked the members to do all that they could in this respect.

Reference was made to the good work of .the club's,officials during the past year, and to the condition of the green, which shows every promise of being in excellent order next-season. At the conclusion of the meeting the trophies won during the 1938-39 season were presented:—Champion singles, Mr. H. A. Snelling; champion pairs. Messrs. Swanson and Stone (s); champion rinks, Messrs. Nicol, Green, Hayden, and Webb (s); junior singles, Mr T A. Tucker; two-bowl pairs. Messrs. H. F. McClure and E. J. Barnett (s); handicap singles, Mr. F. A. Bell.
