TRIALS AT AUCKLAND
SELECTION OF KIWIS
Wellington's three players chosen for the New Zealand Rugby League trial at Auckland on Saturday—J. G. Cootes, P. Stanaway, and H. Edie —are to leave for Auckland by the Limited tomorrow night; :. .
Ji Cooper, who was taken to the hospital suffering from concussion- during the representative trial match at Wellington last Saturday, has made a good recovery and left the hospital yesterday. In view of the fact that the game had not been in progress long when Cooper was injured he was chosen provisionally by the North Island selectors to go to Auckland should he make a sufficient recovery. He will now play in the final trial at Carlaw Park, Auckland^ on Tuesday, and he will leave for the north during the weekend.
The South Island team-to play the North Island in Saturday's trial at Auckland arrived in Wellington this morning and left for Auckland by the afternoon express. The team is managed by Mr. J. Amos, a South Island and New Zealand selector, and the captain is Rex King,, who recently returned to New Zealand after three years' absence in England, where he played for the Warrington Club. G. Bellamy, one of the South Island forwards, could not go north with the team, but. will fly to Auckland from Christchurch on Monday and appear in Tuesday's final trial.
On Saturday night, it has been stated, the New Zealand selectors, Messrs. T. A. McClymont, J. Amos, and J. A. Redwood, will announce a number of certainties for the Kiwi team to tour Britain and France.
A number of. Wellington Rugby League officials and enthusiasts intend going to Auckland on Friday night for Saturday's inter-island trial match.
