WINSOME LU WELL

SILK SOX FOR TRENTHAM

(Sj3eci=4 from "Limited.")

HAWERA, June 22. The local tracks are exceptionally quiet at present, for with the exception of half a dozen horses who are being kept going, operations are confined for the main part to the handling of juveniles.

Winsome Lv is looking a little on the pretty side,-but she usually races well' fresh and an easy track will enhance her prospects. A couple of seasons ago she won eight races for L. George, but owing to soreness she has failed to reach her best form this term.

Notium, who is intended for Trentham, has been doing plenty of solid work since he last raced and the Lysander gelding will lack nothing on the score of condition.

The Wanganui Century Hurdles winner, Disturbed, has been kept up to the collar and, in company with Viracious, will represent H. Scally's stable at Trentham. The Excitement gelding will have a further opportunity of proving his usefulness as weight and track conditions should be to his liking. He should strip an even fitter horse than at Wanganui.

Present intentions are for Silk Sox to contest the highweight event on the second day of the Wellington Meeting and the Winter Hurdles on the final day. Disturbed may also be reserved for the latter event. Both schooled well earlier in the week.

R. Brough, the centre's most successful trainer for the season, has Fiancee, Chief Lord, and a rising two-year-old by Vaals—Airway doing daily tasks and they will be well forward for the opening of the new season.
