LAST TRIBUTES
LATE MR. F. C. WIDDOP
The funeral of the late Mr. F. C. Widdop, formerly Chief Engineer of the New Zealand Railways, took place from his residence, 98 Upland Road, where a service was conducted by the Rev. A. B. Kilf oy at 11 a.m. today. There was a very large attendance of representatives of the railway service, acting and retired officers of other departments, members of bowling clubs, and rowing men. There was a wealth of exquisite floral tributes from all over New Zealand. Over 60 cars followed in the cortege to the crematorium at Karori.
The chief mourners were Mrs. Widdop and her two 'daughters, Mr. J. E. Widdop (brother), and Mr. K. Hannay (brother-in-law). The pall-bearers were Messrs. J. G. Bertinshaw, Chief Engineer, and H. C. Lusty, Assistant Chief Engineer, representing the New Zealand Railways, J. Wood and A. J. Baker, representing the New Zealand Institute of Engineers, and C. W. Nielsen and W. E. Hay-Mackenzie, representing the Kelburn Bowling Club. Relatives present were Messrs. George Brown, W. and E. Carman, G. and W. Parsons, and C. Hill.
Among executive officers of the New Zealand Railways present were Messrs. G. H; Mackley, C.M.G., General Manager, E. Casey, First Assistant, General Manager, H. Valentine, Second Assistant General Manager, and G. Wyles, Signals and Electrical Engineer.
