NEW LODGE OPENED

Another link was forged iv tho chain of progress when a new juvenile branch of tlie Grand United Order of Oddfellows wa.s opened in Wellington last week.

Tho proceedings were in charge of the District. Master, Pro. E. J. Knight, assisted by Bro. W. J. Jlahony, Past District Jlaster, Pro. A J. Taylor, Deputy District Jlaster, Bro. B. P. Ride, District Secretary, Bro. B. Hutchinson, District Treasurer, and Sister E. Bradstock, Bro. T. 11. Tingay, and Bro. W. L. Burgess, District Trustees, and several Past District Officers and P.N.G.s.

An "Occasional District Lodge" was tirst opened, and the new members, numbering about 60, were accepted and initiated. At the conclusion of this ceremony the District Jlaster read tho constitutional lecture and the District Secretary read tho dispensation from the Board of Directors, England, authorising the establishment of the new branch. The District Master then pronounced the lodge ready to bo dedicated.

Prior to the initiation of the new members the Grand Master. Bro. R. Norton, Grand Secretary, Bro. V. E. Bradstock, and Grand Treasurer. Bro. H. Dandy, were received and welcomed b.v the District Master and greeted with the "Honours of the Order" by the assembled members.

The Grand Master carried out the dedication ceremony and proclaimed "Loyal Centenary" Lodge duly established. It was declared officially opened by the District Jlaster, who then introduced to tho members of the branch Sister It. Wilson, Superintendent, Sister V. A. Harnor, Deputy Superintendent, and Bros L. Angel, B. Hutchinson, and N. Cooper, members of tho supervising committee. In the course of his remarks he eulogised tho excellent work done by the supervising committee iv the formation of tho branch, especially that of Sister Wilson, who introduced 30 of tho new members.

Other speakers wore Bro. W. .(. Mahon.v Past District Jlaster. Bro. Hyde, District Sec retary, and Bro. It. Norton, Grand Jlaster.

At the close of the lodge tho members were entertained for about two hours to a picture programme.
