TREASURY LETTERS
There are only four types of letters which the British Treasury can write. The first is "You cannot have the money"; the second is, "We have nothing to add to o'/r previous letter" the third is, "This correspondence must cease"; and the fourth, "Go to* well." So the Japanese Ambassador in London (Mr. Mamoru Shigemitsu) recently confided to a British Cabinet Minister, Mr. Leslie Burgin who repeated-the story at a luncheon. Mr. Burgin also quoted the Ambassador's impression of th« English national game of billiards:--"Two tall men; two longer bamboos; three little balls. One. touches, sayt 'Damn'; the other says: 'Hard Luck, old man.'"
