NEW HARBOUR TUG
ARRIVAL AT LYTTELTON
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day,
Similar in apearance to the old one but more sturdy in design, the Lyttelton Harbour Board's new tug Lyttelton II arrived this morning from Glasgow, where she was built. The new tug cost £53,000, as compared with the £13,980 that the present tug cost the board in 1906. The new tug is 115 ft long, like the old one, but she is 29ft in width, compared with 25ft, and her depth is 14ft, as against 13ft. The most important improvement in the new tug is the increase in power, which is 1500 horsepower, compared with 1000 horsepower of the old vessel.
The tug left Glasgow on March 27. She had a stormy passage down the Australian coast and across the Tasraan.
