ADMISSION TO CUBA
AT LEAST TEMPORARILY
JEWS FROM GERMAN SHIPS
HAVANA, June 6,
The tragedy of the 917 homeless Jews who were refused permission by the Cuban Government to land in Cuba from a German ship on June 2, and who have been cruising for four days in West Indian waters, neared its end today when President Bru relented and agreed to permit them to land at least temporarily.
It is expected that they will be landed on the Isle of Pines, on the south-western coast, and housed in a concentration camp, apparently pending their removal to other countries. Their expenses and the cost of reembarkation have been guaranteed by Jewish societies.
