THEFT FROM MUSEUM
(Special to the "Evening Post")
WANGANUI, June 6
When the cleaners arrived at the Alexander Museum on Monday morning they found that a small case in the arms department had been forced, and a small pistol had been taken. The theft must have occurred late on Monday afternoon, when the light was fading, and most of the big crowd which had been present all day had gone. This is the second theft that has taken place in that section, which is remote from observation. On the former occas sion, models of medallions were taken from three cases. The thief must have come prepared to force the case, as the screws had been pulled out, and it is supposed that a small lever was used.
