AUCKLAND, June 5.

After a three-day trip down the coast from Russell, where she arrived from Rarotoriga on May .24, the 44ft American yacht Silver Spray arrived at Auckland yesterday afternoon and, after spending the night; at anchor on the examination grounds, berthed this afternoon. The vessel is owned and sailed by Mr. E. J. Thomas, of San Francisco, who is .accompanied., by his wife and ten-year-old daugmeir'Norma, and a fourteen-year-old schbplboy, Bill Podoreger. The party left. San Francisco last July.

Dissatisfaction with conditions in the United States Was expressed by Mr. Thomas, who was engaged in business in San F.rancisco and also spent eight years dairy-farming. A Welshman by birth, he went to the United States after the war.

The boat may be sold in Auckland, but the family have as yet no definite plans for the future. The boy Podbreger secured leave of absence from school for a year with his parents' consent to make the trip. On the way out he shared -the work of the yacht with Mr.-Thomas, standing watch and watch. He intends to make the most of his stay in Auckland, where he hopes to obtain a position.
