The Empire Cities Match this year will be held on the association range on Saturday, June 17. The match is open to teams representing any city in the British Empire. Each team comprises 30 riflemen who each fire 10 shots, all counting. The possible score, therefore, Is 3000. Although the Wellington team of last year beat its previous record with a score of 2943, it was in seventh position, the laurels going to Edinburgh with a score of 2963. The B.S.A. match will be held on the association range on Saturday, July 1. The match is open to teams representing any county in Great Britain, State in Australia, or Colony and Dominion province Each team comprises 20 riflemen, who each fire 20 shots, all counting. The possible score is 4000. The cards in New Zealand may be completed over a period of two consecutive days. In addition to the cup, which will be held by the winning team for the ensuing twelve months, silver medals will be awarded to each member of the winning team, and bronze medals to each member of the second team.

The first of the bi-annual matches against the Wairarapa Association will be held on the Wellington Association range next Saturday evening (7.30). CHRISTCHURCH V. WELLINGTON LADIES.

The Christchurch-Wellington Ladies' match will take place on the association range on Saturday, June 17. This annual representative postal match has been conducted for several years. The teams are 12 a-side, the ten highest scores counting. The selector for the Wellington Association (Mr. Wilson) has narrowed his choice down to 20 and the final selection will be made next weekend. Secretaries of clubs are requested to forward the last six club shoots of the riflewomen concerned. Last, year's form has been taken as a guide, but the final selection will depend on present form. Those riflewomen who cannot participate are requested to advise the selector immediately. The twenty mentioned are:—Mrs. R. Dawsuii (Aotea). Miss K. Chalk (Brooklyn), Mrs. Nickless and Miss E. These two also secured the highest rifle scores for the month. -B grade: No fewer than seven members tied for the two trophies allotted and tor points for the Goodwell trophy. They will shoot off tonight. PUBLIC SERVICE CLUB. During the last two weeks attendances of the Public Service Club at the association range have been well maintained. Each week prospective members have attended for the first time, amongst them several ladies. The best scores off the rifle last Thursday week were those of D. A. Rosie 69, L. B. Stichbury, X. | Wilson, and A. V. G. Wilson, 67 each, and on Thursday last, A. V. G. Wilson 69, D. A Rosie, and W. A. Nicholson, 6S each. The present holders of the' Caughley Feathers are A. V. G. Wilson. A grade, and Mrs. A. V. G. Wilson, C grade. The May handicap trophies were won by L. B. Stichbury, D. A. Rosie, an.l A. V. G Wilson. The May competition for the best scores off the rifle resulted in a tie between D. A. Rosie and A. V. G. Wilson. In a shoot-off Wilson was successful and is the first name to appear on the Wilson trophy. At a recent meeting of the committee Mr. Gaelic was elected handicapper, Mr. McMillan was added to the committee, and Messrs. Rosie, Gaelic, and Wilson now comprise the selection committee. Members of the Public Service desirous of joining the club are requested to pay the club a visit any Thursday evening. "EVENING POST" CLUB. j Owing to the holiday on Monday there was ' only a small attendance. Although there was some good shooting, Miss G. Stevens 69, R. Jenkins 69. and V. Gini 68. were the best. The B team against the H.V. Frontiersmen at the Frontiersmen's range on Thursday: Mrs. Nickless, H. Bryant, C. Massey, W. Stevens, L. Kendrick. S. Jobson. W. McGrath. In spite of various counter-attractions there have been good attendances at the Saturday afternoon shoots on the association range. Last Saturday week there were no fewer than 38 "own-start" entries and as many as six handicap possibles were achieved, namely, those of S. M. Hope 98. 2—loo. P. C. Coote 98, 2—loo. R. Paxton 96. 4—loo In the shoot off Coote and Wilson tied again and in a further shoot off the first and second prizes went to Coote and Wilson respectively. R. S. Owen collected the "possible" trophy off the rifle. The leadins rifle scores were those of R. S. Owen 100, B Moss 99, Hope and Coote 98 each. P. W. Congreve won the novelty event and Mrs. Folr.v was second. Last Saturday there were three handicap possibles, those of R. Paxton 96, 4—loo, A. Ford 95. s—loo. and R. Mottram 96. 4—loo. In the shoot off Paxton won the first prize and Ford and Mottram tied for and shared the second prize. Mrs. Foley won the novelty event and Mrs. Wilson and R.
