KARORI TOURNAMENT

The King's Birthday tournament of the Karori Golf Club was concluded yesterday under rather difficult conditions. At the conclusion of the tournament Mr. G. C. Simmiss, president, presented the trophies. The final of the Suburban Championship was fought out between R. G. Holland (Waiwetu) and H. L. Perry (Rangiora). Over the first six holes distance was hard- to judge, both players finding difficulty in locating the green and' being usually through with their approach shots. Holland turned 2 up and won the match at the sixteenth by X and 2. A J. Craighead beat E. Lash in Ihe fin.-il of the Westward Ho Plate. The finals of the flights resulted:—No. 1. H. P. Thompson beat H. Evans, 3 and 1; No. 2, S. H. Head beat K. Hatch, 3 and 1 ; No. 3, H. L. Kiehs beat S S. Williams, 3 and 2 ; No. 4, A. C. Lang beat L. Osborne, 5 and 4; No. 5. C. H.Acheson beat H. L. Harman. 2 and 1; No. G, C. \\. Batten beat .1. Ell, 3 and I: No. 7, G. Burt beat L. V. Browne, 1 up; No. 8, B. Butland heat \Y. B. Thomson, 1 up : No. 0, Mrs. K. Kennedy beat Mrs. T. Younie, 2 up: No. 10, Miss D. Anderson beat Miss K. Podevin, 1 up: \o 11 Mrs. D. McGavin beat Miss E. Wall, 'i and 2 Other competitions resulted: —Fourball bogey handicap, .1. Ell and A. C. Lang, 4 up; second bogey. T. Younie, 1 down on count buck from N. Payne; stableford bogey, G. Barton (35 points) on a count back from A. J. Craighead.
