The Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple), the Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones), the Minis-, ter of Labour (the Hon. P. C. Webb), and the Minister of Industries and Commerce (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) all returned to Wellington from, the south this morning. Mr. A. R. McElwain left Wellington, by yesterday's steamer express to ar- - range the South Island tour of Madame Lotte Lehmann. Mr. A. R. Donaldson, secretary of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce, was a visitor to Wellington during the weekend. The Rev. D. V. de Candole, assistant curate of All Saints' Church, Palmerston North, was admitted to the-'priest- ■ hood at the Cathedral Church of St." Paul on Sunday morning. The ordination was conducted by Bishop" Sprott' and the sermon was preached by the Rev. C. H. Isaacson. Mr. de Candole was ordained in England and arrived in New Zealand about a year ago. He comes from Somerset, and is a member of a family well known in Church circles in England. He was educated, at King's College, London, and afterwards at Lincoln Theological College. .

Mr. H. H. H. Brady, of Turnbull and Jones, Ltd., Wellington, has, passed the final examination of the Faculty of Practising Accountants, and has been admitted as an associate.
