ANKARA, May 30

The Anglo-Turkish agreement was not an aggressive move but a contribution towards safeguarding humanitarian ideals, declared the Prime Minister, M. Inonu, in opening the Republican People's Party congress.

He announced that an agreement in principle had been reached in the negotiations with France, while the relations between Turkey and Russia were never more cordial.

"Today Turkey has fully- reawakened and is not content merely to assure her own safety, but is ready and willing to contribute to the peace of the ■world," he said. "If new slaughter is provoked Turkey will fearlessly do her duty."
